Classic Album Sundays founder Colleen ‘Cosmo’ Murphy is joined by Saint Etienne’s Sarah Cracknell, Bob Stanley and Pete Wiggs to explore and tell the stories behind the band’s debut album Foxbase Alpha. When it was released in 1991 on Heavenly Recordings, the album was emblematic of the indie and dance music cross-pollination as well as the cinematic lounge and chill out scene. Featuring singles ‘Nothing Can Stop Us’ and ‘Only Love Can Break Your Heart’, Foxbase Alpha was nominated for a Mercury Prize and over 30 years later is still beloved by fans.

It’s a British classic and a natural choice for National Album Day celebrations.

After the interview, Foxbase Alpha will be played uninterrupted and in its entirety on a world class audiophile sound system featuring Danley loudspeakers so that listeners can experience the album in full detail. Danley Sound Labs unique, patented technology reaches the hearts and ears of every audience member and with its high quality, high impact sound, Danley transforms the listening experience. These technologies can now be enjoyed in the studio and home with Danley’s new range of HiFi and Studio monitors. After the playback, the audience will have the opportunity to ask the bandmembers their own questions.

Discounts for British Library Members. Half price tickets available students, under 26s and other concession groups.

Doors and bar open at 18.00. If you’re attending in person please arrive no later than 15 minutes before the start time of this event.

Classic Album Sundays tells the stories behind the albums that have shaped our culture and our lives. Not always on Sundays, it is the world’s most popular album listening event.
