Born in Nigeria and based in London, singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Jacob Banks first introduced his powerful fusion of soul, R&B, and alternative with a series of self-released EPs. Soon after signing to Interscope Records, he made his full-length debut with 2018’s Village and garnered widespread critical acclaim, including a spot on VIBE’s “30 Best Albums of 2018” list. Last year, Jacob released EP For My Friends which received widespread acclaim from the likes of CLASH, The Line of Best Fit, Notion and Trench. Lead single Parade was inspired by the unrest he felt upon attending a BLM protest and dropped with an epic music video starring Kojey Radical. In addition to headlining sold-out shows on multiple continents, he’s delivered electrifying performances at Coachella, SXSW, Austin City Limits, Latitude and Lollapalooza, and opened for the likes of Emeli Sandé, Sam Smith, and Alicia Keys. Jacob has also delivered standout sets on television shows such as Jimmy Kimmel LIVE!, The Ellen DeGeneres Show and Later… with Jools Holland. Track Unknown (To You) has been streamed over 45 million times on Spotify alone, and his music has been raved about by everyone from The FADER to Vogue, with Time recognizing Chainsmoking as one of the “Best Songs of 2017 So Far.” In March 2022, Jacob debuted powerful single Just When I Thought, the first offering from upcoming album Lies About The War due to be independently released later this year, via his own label Nobody Records.
