The Harrison presents a Musician's Workshop with famed Egyptian Oud virtuosos Tarek Elazhary.

This 90 minute class is open to all musicians (of any level) interested in gaining a deeper understanding of Arabic rhythms and melodies.
Musicians should bring their own instrument (eg voice, guitar, fiddle, banjo, drum, mandolin, ekulele, flute, whistle, tamborine etc.).
Tarek will teach the group an Arabic tune, whilst giving insights in to the structure and history of Arabic music.

About Tarek-
Egyptian educator and composer Tarek Elazhary, has worked extensively with famed Iraqi oud player Naseer Shamma, serving as an instructor at the Arabic Oud House in Cairo. He has also led courses in traditional music at the German University in Cairo and performed with the university’s Arabic music ensemble. He is the co-founder of popular instrumental band Dokkan, which blends eastern influences with contemporary western instrumentation.

Tarek is also receiving great recognition for his ground breaking project with Tamsin and Rowan Elliott. Read the Guardian's 4* review here- https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/sep/23/tamsin-elliott-tarek-elazhary-so-far-we-have-come-review-an-anglo-egyptian-meeting-of-minds
